Five years after they set out to add greenery to neighborhoods and parks across Pomona, local environmentalists are celebrating a milestone. On Dec. 2, 2017, Clean and Green Pomona planted its first tree at Kellogg Polytechnic Elementary School to provide students with more shade and a healthier learning environment. Saturday, Dec. 3, the group that has also fought for better living conditions around industrial zones in the city planted its 1,000th tree at Hamilton Park. Joined by board members, volunteers and Mayor Tim Sandoval, the group planted the sapling to a round of applause.
